Eugene Lee Dickey Jr. Obituary

Eugene Lee Dickey Jr., 73, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Born on February 5, 1953, Eugene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Eugene proudly followed in his father’s footsteps by enlisting in the United States Army, where he served honorably as a mechanic. His hardworking spirit and steady hands stayed with him throughout his life, whether he was working on classic cars, tending to his beloved tomato plants, or helping friends and family whenever they needed him.

He found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful — fishing on a quiet day, watching basketball and cheering through March Madness, spending time outdoors, and gathering around a campfire sharing stories of old times with lifelong friends. Eugene was also deeply involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW in Charlestown, organizations that reflected his love for fellowship and community.

Above all else, Eugene cherished his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to Deborah Dickey, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; his son, Matthew Dickey; siblings, Daniel (Cindy) Dickey, Rebecca Spellman (Morris), Paul Dickey (Sandra), Jimmy Dickey (Beth), Mindy Amy (Scott), Martin Dickey (Kelli), and Jeffery Dickey (Stephanie); grandchildren, Brielle, Gary, Stephanie and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Evie, D.J, Josh Adyn, Kyrah, Kasen and Deshawn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene (Margaret) and Alberta Dickey; his beloved daughter, Tamara Lindsey; his sister, Martha Welsh; and his brother-in-law, Tony Welsh.

Though Eugene’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will live on in every garden planted, every campfire story shared, every classic car admired, and every moment spent with family and friends. His legacy is one of loyalty, kindness, hard work, and love.
