E. Marie (Hill) Whelan

E. Marie Whelan, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at her home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on May 27, 1946, to the late William D. and Daisy M. Hill in Scottsburg, Indiana. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a feisty, straight shooter who loved life, and loved sharing it with her family. Marie loved celebrating too. Whether it was making Christmas bows and decorating for the holidays, or celebrating her birthday all week long, she was always fun-loving and having a good time. In her spare time, Marie enjoyed spending time in Hawaii with Carl, loving on her favorite dog, Rusty, working on her flowers in the yard, and feeding the squirrels off the front porch. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, William D. Hill and Daisy M. Lamaster Hill, Marie is preceded in death by her siblings, William “Ebbie” Hill and Mary Joyce Taylor; and sister-in-law, Regina Hill.

 Left to cherish her memory, Marie leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Carl W. Whelan; 2 children, Mary “Evelyn” Siebert (Mike), and Carl “Sonny” Whelan II (Colleen); 3 siblings, Richard Hill, Gary Hill (Phyllis), and Debbie Stevenson; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Hughes (Ben), Kori Lynn Corrao (Spencer), and Michael Siebert Jr. (Amber); 2 great grandchildren, Archer Hughes, and Ira Corrao; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. E. Marie Whelan will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Legacy Funeral Center – Scott Chapel, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 2 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
