Dorothy Elizabeth Wells, 86, entered Eternal Life on Sunday, September 15, 2024, surrounded by the love and memories she held so dear. Born in Locust Grove, Georgia, to the late Tom and Rose Mae Jenkins, Dorothy lived a life filled with warmth, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
As a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorothy found her greatest joy in the company of her family. She cherished each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; pouring her energies, her love, and her faith into her time with them.
Dorothy’s marriage to her late husband, Elzie Lee Wells, was a testament to enduring love. Elzie, with his affectionate humor, often teased her about her flower beds, lovingly calling them "the weeds." But he always admired the passion and care she poured into them—just as she did for her family. Their love story was one of laughter, companionship, and unwavering support, and she now joins him in Eternal Rest. She was a longtime member of Oak Park Baptist Church, where she helped to raise her children in the love and admonition of The Lord.
Survivors include her children, Christopher Wells, Michele Smith (Jerry), James Wells (Jina); brothers, Jackie Jenkins and Lamar Jenkins (Martha); grandchildren, Ashley Spears (Jason), Trevor Smith (Megan), Jared Wells, Jaden Wells, and Jordan Wells; great grandchildren, Austin Spears, Nolan Spears, Jaxon Spears, Zander Smith, and Ryleigh Smith.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center - Jeffersonville. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy’s life will follow at 6 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Elzie in Georgia in the days to come.
