Dorothy C. Durbin, 92, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on September 26, 1929 to John H. and Viola Tincher in Louisville, Kentucky. Dorothy was a devout Christian woman and her faith in God was the center of her life. Dorothy was a long standing member of South Louisville Christian Church, she was very involved and served wherever she was needed. In her spare time, Dorothy liked to keep her hands and mind busy. She read the Bible and her newspaper every day. She enjoyed solving crossword and other word puzzles, as well as various arts and crafts. She was an avid reader and loved a good mystery. Dorothy was very independent and spent some of her free time volunteering at various neighborhood Community Centers. She was always ready with a smile and cherished her family and friends. She will be missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hayward Durbin; and her parents, John H. Tincher and Viola Schumaker Tincher.
Left to cherish her memory, Dorothy leaves behind a daughter, Linda Gritton (Jerry); 2 siblings, Wanda Campbell and Virginia Durbin; 2 grandchildren, Jeffery Tate (Nicole) and Elizabeth Tate; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Ms. Dorothy C. Durbin will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 1 pm at Legacy Funeral Center-Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 am to 1 pm, prior to the service. Burial will be private.
