With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Donald Andrew “Andy” Hooker, who left this world on July 12, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana, at the age of 65.
Born on October 24, 1959 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the son of the late Alvin Sr. and Esther Hooker. Andy lived a life full of passion, adventure, and unwavering love for his family. He was a man of the outdoors—never happier than when he was fishing, camping, boating, or skiing. Nature was his sanctuary, but his true joy came from spending those moments with the people he loved.
Andy is survived by his devoted children, Christina Hooker and Jeremy Johnson, his siblings, Alvin Hooker, Jr. (Kristina), Scott Hooker, Mary Jenkins, and Bobby Jenkins; and many cherished nieces and nephews, Brandy Mitchell (Jon), Emma Riggle, Christopher Jenkins (Kelly), Jeremy Copeland, Corey Copeland, Donald Jenkins Jr., and Micah Hooker. He also leaves behind great-nephews Evan Jenkins and Isaiah Huff, great-niece Lakaiya Huff, and a large extended family and circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anji Hooker, sister, Sherri Copeland and brother Jimmy Hooker his brother-in-law, Donald Jenkins,
Andy’s love for his family was limitless, and his quiet strength, humor, and loyalty left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana.
