Donald (Donnie) Ray Hampton, 77, of Louisville passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on November 10, 2024. He was born on December 25, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, the beloved Christmas baby of the late Homer and Gertrude Hampton.
After attending Valley High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force. His faith was an anchor in his life, and he was most recently a member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church. Donald worked as a salesman and then as a dedicated personal assistant and care taker.
Donald was known for his deep love of family, especially cherishing moments spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. A lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky, he could often be found cheering on the Wildcats, wearing his UK blue with pride. He enjoyed playing cards and loved country music; his favorite artist was George Jones. He enjoyed family gatherings, vacationing, celebrating holidays and decorating for Christmas.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Hampton, and sisters Jessie Goodlett, Janice Rocker, and Patricia Platt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Pamela Hampton; sons, Brad Hampton, Donald Hampton, II (Jackie), daughters, Janet McCorkle (Tony), Leann Gladdish; sister, Bobbie Armes (Warren) step sons, Tim Stewart (Trina), Brian Stewart; step daughter, Shari Stewart; 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Jalen, Zoe, Isaiah, Alexis, Destiny, Kyle; 7 great grandchildren, Hailey-Ann, Paris, Aurora, Bam, Greyson, Trip, and Evie, along with nieces and nephews whom he loved.
There will be a service held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 3pm with visitation held before from 11-3pm at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
