Dixie Doris House, 87, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on December 10, 2024, at She was born on March 15, 1937, in Houston, Texas, the beloved daughter of Richard and Evelyn Heritage.
Dixie was a retired office manager whose dedication and hard work were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a life time seeker and member of A Course in Miracles. A truly wonderful and generous soul, she was always ready to lend a helping hand and gave selflessly to numerous charities throughout her life. Her kind heart and unwavering commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on her community and beyond.
Dixie deeply cherished her family and friends, finding joy and fulfillment in their love and companionship. Her warmth, generosity, and enduring kindness will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Officer Richard Heritage, who died serving in WWII and Evelyn Johnson; son, Shelby Scott House; former husband of 36 years, Lee House.
She is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 sister.
A celebration of Dixie’s life will be held at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana from 10:30 to 1:30pm with service to follow at 1:30 on Friday, December 27, 2024. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
Within Dixies family, many times in reference to someone passing away, family members will state the passing as being “relocation”.
