With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Debra Jean Lewis, who left this world on July 21, 2025, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on December 15, 1970, Debbie was a vibrant soul who lived life fully and loved deeply.
Debbie had a unique zest for life and a spirit that embraced both the everyday joys and the mysteries beyond. Whether she was doing yard work, spinning the reels at a casino, exploring new places, or tidying up a home until it sparkled. Debbie found joy in both the ordinary and extraordinary. She was fascinated by the unseen world and an avid fan of all things paranormal.
But above all, Debbie's greatest passion was her family. She was the heart of her home, a fiercely loving wife, devoted mother, cherished daughter, treasured sister, and the proudest MawMaw to her beloved grandchildren. Her love and warmth extended far beyond her immediate family—she was a second mother, a guiding light, and a loyal friend to many.
Debbie leaves behind her devoted husband of 36 years, Brent Lewis, who stood by her side through life’s every twist and turn. She is also survived by her mother, Deborah Brewster; her loving daughters, Allison Moreland (Timmy) and Heidi Lewis (Darin); her brother, Roy Brewster (Julie) and half-siblings, Nicole Dean, and Christopher Magness; and her precious grandchildren, Daelynn Hatton, Adleigh Moreland, Darin Werner (D.J.), Waylen Moreland, and Hunter Werner. Her memory will live on through countless others who lovingly knew her as “MawMaw,” (or second mom) along with her many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Brewster, Sr., and mother and father in law, Ralph and Sandy lewis.
Debbie life will be honored on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Legacy Scott Chapel, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial to take place in Utica, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to help with funeral expenses. Contributions can be directed to Legacy Scott Chapel at 812-283-8269.
Debbie’s legacy is one of laughter, strength, compassion, selfless and unwavering love. Though she has departed this earthly life, the beautiful memories she created and the love she shared will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
