Deborah “Debbe” Holmes Wakeland, age 73, of Louisville, KY, passed away on April 17, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1952, in Louisville to the late Richard Patrick Lannan and Dolores Adcock Lannan.
Debbe spent many years working in the housekeeping industry, where her dedication and strong work ethic touched the lives of many. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple pleasures—playing bingo, shopping (especially online), and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a fondness for Pepsi, cherry Lifesavers, and a heart full of love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Geoffrey Holmes, and her sister Kathy Lannan Taylor.
Debbe leaves behind a loving family: her children, Brian G. Holmes and Nicole Miller; grandchildren, Geoffrey Holmes, Julian Holmes, Darion Hayes, Hayden Holmes, Memery Miller, and Mya Miller; and great-grandchildren, Gia Holmes and Sheamus Thompson. She is also survived by her sisters, Jo Ann Harp, Pam Holmes Dieruf, Mary Lannan (Kelly) and Melissa Ruiz (Armando); brothers, Richard Lannan; nieces Stephanie Butner, Hannah Lannan, Angie Culver and Shawn Meadows; nephews, Jeremy Lannan along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at Legacy Schoppenhorst Chapel Funeral Home, located at 1831 W. Market St., Louisville, KY 40203. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM.
Debbe will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love of family, and the way she brought joy to everyday life. She will be deeply missed. All are invited to join family after the service at Tim’s Post, 3416 Bank St., Louisville, KY.
