Deborah Darlene (Underwood) Mackey

Deborah Darlene Mackey, 72, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on December 28, 1950, to the late Lee Underwood and LaVerne Robertson in Louisville, Kentucky. Deborah enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a loving wife, mother, Mimi and sister. She was a graduate of Southern High School, and “Western Purple” will forever be her favorite color. Deborah was a dedicated Christian, and spent many Sundays teaching Sunday School and sharing her faith with others. Sundays were always important to her, as she would often spend time with her grandchildren at the movies and going out to eat, as well. Deborah was very loving by nature, and spread that love to many animals over the years. She was also a bit of a card shark, with many tricks up her sleeve to ensure she won. In her spare time, Deborah enjoyed trips to Walmart with her grandchildren, going to see her mother-in-law, Onalee, in Lorraine, Ohio, playing Bingo, and attending Al-Anon meetings. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Lee and LaVerne, Deborah is preceded in death by her sister, Brenda; and mother-in-law, Onalee.

Left to cherish her memory, Deborah leaves behind her loving husband, Joel; daughter, Missy (Jason); step-children, Michelle, John, and Meghan; grandchildren, Christian, Keith, Elizabeth, Jason Jr., Cody, JT, Bradley, Peyton, Hayley, Mason, and Avrey; great grandchildren, Romeo, Sebastian, Audree, Tynleigh, Tripp, Colton, and Nola; siblings, David (Linda), Susie (Tom), and Beverly (Dwayne); and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Deborah Darlene Mackey will be held at 12 PM on Friday, August 25, 2022, at Legacy Funeral Center-Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at the funeral home. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
