Cynthia Lynn Cain, age 65, of Henryville, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Born to the late Dorothy Marie (Pryor) and Thomas Fanning, Sr., Cynthia lived her life with a warm heart, a steady spirit, and a gift for making others feel cared for. A talented chef, Cynthia spent many years sharing her skills and creativity at Ryan’s Steakhouse before retiring from Clark Memorial Hospital after twenty years of dedicated service. She loved her work, not only for the food she created but for the people she served and the friendships she formed along the way. Her kindness filled every kitchen she stepped into.
Cynthia found joy in the simple, beautiful things that made life sweet. She loved being outdoors, tending lovingly to her flowers and growing a garden that reflected the colors and gentleness of her personality. Arts and crafts were another passion—she enjoyed working with her hands, building and creating, collecting seashells, pearls, Native Indian memorabilia, porcelain dolls, and Barbies! Each piece she treasured had a story, a memory, or a spark of happiness attached to it. She loved to explore and discover new places, whether traveling out of town or enjoying local fairs, festivals, and community events. Cynthia had a way of making connections wherever she went, striking up conversations, admiring booths, and sharing smiles with strangers who often became friends. But above all else, Cynthia’s greatest joy was her sweet granddaughter, Isabella. Nothing illuminated her world more than time spent with her grandbaby—sharing giggles, cuddles, and love that came straight from the heart. She cherished every moment with Isabella, making memories that will forever remain bright and tender.
Cynthia is survived by her beloved son, Christopher J. Cain (April N.); her adored granddaughter, Isabella Anna Cain; her brothers, Tommy Fanning; , Brian Kaiser; and sister Sonya Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Legacy Funeral Center – Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville). Entombment will follow in Walnut Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may visit from 10 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
