Claude C.J. Morris Jr

Claude ” C.J. “ Morris Jr., age 79, passed away on August 10, 2022 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky surrounded by family and friends. He was born on April 18, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to the of the late Claude Sr. and Bertie (Medley) Morris. Claude worked for Trailmobile for over 40 years in Sales and as Parts Manager until his retirement. Claude was baptized in the  Catholic Church and was raised in that faith.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Claude was heavily involved in the community where he always lived. He became President of the Southern  Indiana Democratic Action Committee and served as  second vice president of the NAACP in Jeffersonville. He was a member of the Claysburg Reunion Organization and served in various roles and most recently as  Treasurer. Claude developed an interest in politics and served as a Precinct Committee member for many years before his illness.

Claude enjoyed playing cards, betting and watching horse racing at Churchhill Downs and other racetracks in the U.S. and Canada. He enjoyed hosting family and friends at his Clubhouse on Derby day.

Claude coached an intermural Basketball team and won many trophies with his outstanding players. Some where former players of the University of Louisville basketball team.  His part-time position  was Bartendering. He was a licensed Bartender and then became a manager in several clubs, he was well-known in the Louisville area.

In addition to his parents,  Claude was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Claudette, Theron and LePrecious Morris. He is survived by his son, Keith Fouse; daughters, Weldonna Perry, Joy Biesel (Joe); siblings, Betty J.  Williams (David), Sharon A. Trotter, Linda M. Edwards (Michael), Carl W. Morris, Pamela Morris, LaTonje Shelton (Thomas) along with 6 grandchildren,  3 great grandchildren, two nephews, Harry and Aaron “Keith” Brewer that he helped raise along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.

There will a visitation held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 10-12:30 pm at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at St Augustine Catholic Church, 315 E. Chestnut St. Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
