Clarence “Roger” Martin, age 88, was born on February 26, 1937, in Vine Grove, Kentucky, and passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, on December 22, 2025.
Roger was a man of deep love and simple joys. He shared his life with his loving and lifelong partner, Kim Fritz, who stood faithfully by his side. He was a grandfather to Erica, Trevor, Alan, and Ashlee, and a great-grandfather to Joshua, Maddie, Lexi, and Kaleb, each of whom brought him pride and happiness.
He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Carol); beloved family members Rusty, Pam, and Vicky; several nieces and nephews; a host of dear friends; and his beloved pets, Sadie and Maggie, who brought him daily companionship and comfort.
Roger was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Gail Schultz; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
He found joy in life, especially horse racing, old country music (particularly all the “Hanks”), watching classic Westerns, celebrating Halloween, which always brought out his playful spirit, and asking “Alexa” the time and weather.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, located at 4327 Taylor Boulevard, Louisville, KY 40215. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Roger will be remembered for his loyalty, warmth, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
