Clarence Ray Mattingly Jr., 54, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at Hillcrest Village in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his devoted family.

Born on April 4, 1971, in Louisville, Clarence lived a life full of passion, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. A proud and lifelong fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals football team, he cheered for his Cards through every season with unmatched spirit. Clarence’s love for video games and heavy metal music brought him joy and escape, and he never hesitated to share that passion with those around him — whether it was a favorite album, a classic game, or a new find worth celebrating.

More than anything, Clarence was the heart and soul of his family. A steady, loving presence, he was the kind of son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, patience, and sense of humor lifted the spirits of everyone he met. He was the quiet strength that his family leaned on — the one who listened, who cared deeply, and who always showed up when it mattered most.

Clarence is survived by his loving parents, Clarence and Cecelia Mattingly; his siblings, Loretta Mattingly, David Mattingly (Deana), Barbara Mattingly, and Mary Fortner (Jonathan); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy — of love, loyalty, laughter, and resilience — will live on in the lives of those who were blessed to know him.

Cremation was chosen, and a memorial service to celebrate Clarence’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Clarence’s memory by sharing a favorite story, turning up your favorite heavy metal song, or simply being there for someone you love — just as he always was.
