Charlotte Virginia Riley, 73, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on August 10, 2024 at her home. She was born on March 10, 1951 in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina daughter of Charles & Virginia (Boone) Howard. Charlotte retired from Bacons Department Store after 19 years of dedicated service and was a member of Utica Church of Christ and thought the world of her Pastor Kenny.
Charlotte’s warmth and generosity touched everyone around her, earning her the beloved title of “neighborhood mom”. She also had delicious cooking and a master chef in the kitchen. Despite her best efforts, she was more famous for her knack of accidentally killing her flowers than having a green thumb.
A devoted fan of Harry Potter movies, she found wonder, magic and joy in the series. Charlotte’s community involvement was extensive, as she proudly served as a member of the Ladies Eagles Club and was active leader for both Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts. Charlottes legacy will be one of kindness, dedication and an open heart.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Lee Riley; son, Christopher Lee Riley; brothers, David (Pete) E. Howard, Charlie Howard. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia E. Riley (Roger Mitchell); 3 grandchildren, Robert Wallace Vincent (Linda Martinez), Chase Chadwell, Elizabeth G. Glascock; 3 great grandchildren, Emma P. Vincent, Evelyn Scarlette Vincent, Alice Vincent; sister, Sylvia Lynn Davis ,brother-in-law, Michael Riley(Fran) aunt, Lydia H. Tarpley; sister-in-law, Pam Howard; along with nieces and nephews, Aaron Scott Davis(Dawn), Charles Davis (Charity), Peter Stiles Knight, Rebecca Barrett, Tiffani Reel(John).
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 4pm located at Utica Church of Christ, 300 S. 4th Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
