77, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on December 21, 1947, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Janice Spears and the late Fred Spears.
Carol graduated from Miami Trace High School, Washington Court House Ohio in 1965. She went on to Springfield School of Nursing and graduated in 1968. Carol was a devoted Registered Nurse for over 42 years of her life to caring for others. She worked in many areas of nursing at Riverside Hospital and at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio before continuing her work at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in Indiana. Her compassion, skill, and dedication left a lasting impact on both her patients and colleagues.
A faithful and long standing member of First Baptist Church,in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Carol was active in the Women's Bible Study and found deep joy in serving others through her faith. She had a special love for spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, creating memories and sharing moments of joy. Carol also cherished her shopping trips, her passion for eating out, and her remarkable talent for cooking, which brought warmth to her home and those around her.
Carol will be remembered for her loving nature, her selflessness, and her unwavering faith. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her father, Carol was preceded in death by her husbands, Gary Allen Stump; Paul Tharp: her nephew, Zachery: son-in-law David DeVoe.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Melissa Wright (Jim), Angela Stump-Rodriquez; mother, Janice Spears; four brothers, Gary (Susan), Neil (Lori), Jeff (Nancy), Mark Spears; three sisters, Bonnie Cole, Nancy (Keith), Melanie (Brian); 11 grandchildren, Melinda (Jacob), Matthew (Rachel), Michael (April), Christina (Matt), Jamie (Charlotte) Colleen, Joseph, Rachel “Robin”; 13 great grandchildren: Aden, Cylee, Kalyn, Case, Maron,Conor, Micheala, Amelia, Carter, Carison, Bodhi: along with nieces and nephews, Shellie, Meagen, Brody, Tyler, Nick, Jeanna, Erin, Drew, Jayme, Josh, Bray, Troy, Whittney, Heath.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 12-4pm with service to follow at 4pm at First Baptist Church, 2402 East 10th street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
