Brian Manuel Torrez, 62, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Born on September 2, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, Brian was the beloved son of the late Juan Torrez and Shirley Embry.

Brian was a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was an avid sports fan who loved football, especially cheering on his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts.

Those who knew Brian will remember his warm heart, quick wit, and his deep love for his cats, who brought him great comfort and companionship throughout his life.

He is survived by his sister, Tina Torrez; 22 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Torrez and Shirley Embry; and his sister, Robin Cordoba.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 13 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Floyd County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2818 Green Valley Rd., New Albany, Indiana  47150. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League.
