Brandie Gayle Murphy

Brandie Gayle Murphy, 33, passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.  Brandie was born on October 15, 1987 to Shanda Murphy and the late Kevin Murphy in Joliet, Illinois.  Brandie was a great mother, sister, daughter, and friend.  Brandie had her moments, but was always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need.  Brandie was always the life of the party.  Her kids were her world.  Brandie was a very unique, one of a kind best friend to her children.  She would always make her children smile and they are very proud to call her “MOM”. A fighter through it all, her children will forever be proud of and admire her for her strength. Brandie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her father, Kevin Murphy, Brandie was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessenia Gabriela Barrara; sister, Krystal Nicole Murphy; aunt, Theresa Fuqua; uncle, Brian Murphy; niece, Sienna Almanza; grandparents, Melton and Gayle Cunningham and Linda Luna.

Left to cherish her memory, Brandie leaves behind 2 children, Jose Isaiah Murphy and Allison Nicole Barrara; mothers, Shanda Murphy and Sofia Rivera; siblings, Shannon Independence Waltz, Angelica Rivera, Francisco Almanza, Alan Almanza, Maria Almanza, Bianca Garcia, Paul Waltz, Brandon Crook, Darius Pittman Sr., and Trina Chavez; grandparents, Pete Murphy and Maureen Murphy; cousins, Brad Funk Jr., Matt Funk, Scotty Funk, Cory Cunningham and Apolonia Rodriguez; aunts, Mary Dean, Tammy Cunningham, and Karen Thompson (Steven); uncle, Brad “Chung” Funk Sr.; comadre, Yari Rodriguez; nieces and nephews, Bentlee Raigosa, Aiden Pugsley, Aalyssa Mullins, Brandie Mullins, Lily Waltz, Liliana Martinez, Alan Rivera, Geovanna Martinez, Sofia Almanza, Frank Almanza Jr., Jayla Crook, Lola Cook, Freddy Razor, Jayani Beard, Darius Pittman Jr., Johnathan Pittman, Jaziah Pittman, Zaryah Pittman, Alexia Mendoza and Raul “Bubba” Rodriguez; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation for Ms. Brandie Gayle Murphy will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Legacy Funeral Center - Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Boulevard, Louisville, KY 40215 from 11 AM to 3 PM.
