Bonita A. Singleton, 69, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 14, 1954, to Myrtle Houghton and James Adcock I in Louisville, Bonita was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Her family was the center of her world, especially her grandbabies, whom she adored immensely.
Known affectionately as a "momma bear," Bonita was fiercely protective of her children, always ready to stand up for them. She had a spirited personality and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her love for her family was evident in the numerous gatherings she hosted, filled with laughter, card games, dice, bingo, and the occasional gambling and beer.
Bonita was a phenomenal cook, famous for her open-door policy when it came to dinner. She believed that meals were meant to be shared, and her home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family to the children of the Portland neighborhood, whom she mothered with care and affection.
Despite her outgoing nature, Bonita enjoyed the comfort of her home, cherishing quiet moments surrounded by loved ones. Her legacy of love, warmth, and tenacity will be cherished by all who knew her. Bonita’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Bonita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Terry Singleton; her parents, James Adcock I, and Myrtle Houghton Burgin; and 2 brothers, James S. Adcock, and Michael Wayne Adcock.
Left to cherish her memory, Bonita is survived by her 2 children, Earl Evans (Denise), and Sherry McBride (Brad); 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Zack), Carley, Mason, Zack, Brittany, Blake, and Chloe; 2 great-grandchildren, Brayson, and Ava; 3 siblings, Eddie Adcock (Rosie), Ricky Adcock, and Tonya Adcock Chesser (Darris); many nieces and nephews she loved like her own; several in-laws; her faithful companion, Bentley; and a host of extended family, and close friends.
