Bobby Joe Mitchell

Bobby Joe Mitchell, 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on March 2, 1947, to the late Mary Elizabeth Mitchell in Louisville, Kentucky. Bobby was a loving family man, and always spent as much time around his family as possible. After serving his country in the United States Army, Bobby worked as a mechanic for many years. Since he loved cars, Bobby never truly found it to be work though. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger, and always offered a strong opinion. In his spare time, Bobby liked being outdoors fishing, working on cars, cutting grass, and watching his favorite NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mom, Mary Elizabeth Woodcock Mitchell, Bobby is preceded in death by his daughter, Bobbi Jo Mitchell; and a sister, Linda Sue Malone.

Left to cherish his memory, Bobby leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Earlene Mitchell; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Scott Nelson (Laura), Cheyenne Carter, and Kea’on Carter; 2 great grandchildren, Pressley Nelson, and Christopher Nelson Jr.; 3 siblings, Curtis Mitchell (Sharon), Donna Herchenrader, and Louise Hyde (James); son in law, Robert Carter (Dori); special niece, Bridgett Smith; car buddies, Larry Moore, PJ Moore, Steve and Kathy Crawford, Duke Morris and BJ Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

A visitation for Mr. Bobby Joe Mitchell will be held from 2 PM to 7 PM, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky.
