Billie Ray Johnson, III, age 52, of Clarksville, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026. A lifelong resident of Clarksville, Billie was the beloved son of the late Karen (Vetter) and Billie Ray Johnson, Jr., and a proud graduate of Clarksville High School.
Billie was a hardworking man who dedicated many years of service to his community. He worked at Wash-O-Rama Car Wash, with the Clarksville Parks Department, and at Kroger, always bringing his friendly spirit and strong work ethic wherever he went. In recent years, he served in maintenance at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, where his dependability and warm personality made a lasting impression.
More than anything, Billie will be remembered for his heart. He was a passionate advocate for Group Recovery, always striving to lift others up and guide them toward a brighter future. He often stepped into the role of sponsor, offering encouragement, understanding, and unwavering support to those who needed it most. Billie had a gift for connecting with people—he truly was a “people person” who never met a stranger. His kindness, loyalty, and willingness to go the distance for others made him a treasured friend to many.
Billie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved listening to heavy metal music—loud and proud—and had cherished memories of camping trips and fishing adventures with his family. He was easygoing, full of laughter, and known for his sweet nightly ritual of enjoying cherry cordial ice cream before bed. Above all, he was easy to love and impossible to forget.
In addition to his parents, Billie was preceded in death by his brother, Shawn Johnson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving son, Zayne Lowery; his brother, Jereme Johnson; his wife, Rebecca Johnson; his stepson, Cameron Vanover; the mother of his son, Lori Lowery; his nieces, Juliana “Jules” Johnson and Halia Johnson; his cherished grandson, Jackson; and his faithful canine companion, Larry, who never left his side.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Legacy Funeral Center, Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville), followed by burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Billie’s life was a testament to compassion, friendship, and second chances. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
