Bertha D. Akers

Bertha D. Akers, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. She was born on January 7, 1949, to the late Virgil and Almeta Kendall DeVore.

Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond J. Akers; her parents; and her siblings, Mary Griffith, Joseph DeVore, and Carl DeVore.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Katherine Patterson, Joseph Heath, and Tony Akers; her cherished granddaughter, Kristen “Angel” Akers; her sisters, Gladys Davis, Doris McGee, Anna Weber, and Viola Rosell; and her nephew, Virgil Rosell.

Bertha found joy in the simple beauty of life. She loved watching nature, especially birds and squirrels, and treasured the time she spent with her family. Her appreciation for life and her deep love for her children will be remembered by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 West Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40203, with a funeral service to follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. The family has chosen cremation.

Bertha’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
