Barbara Jean Pope, 73, faithful member of the Salvation Army in Portland passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born to George E. and Barbara Robbins on July 13, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that touched the lives of everyone she met.
Barbara was a devoted wife to her husband and the love of her life, Jennings “Bean” Pope, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She had a passion for oldies music, crossword puzzles, scrabble, and reading, often enjoying these hobbies on her favorite spot, the porch. She was retired from Target after 20 years of service.
Her faith in the Lord was unwavering, and she shared that faith generously, often giving out Bibles to her grandchildren as Christmas gifts. Barbara was a storyteller with a knack for making people laugh; her sense of humor and wit brightened many days.
She was a friend to all, never meeting a stranger and always ready to lend a helping hand. Barbara's annual family camping trips were cherished traditions, reflecting her love for adventure and togetherness.
In her memory, let us carry forward her spirit of generosity, love, and laughter. Barbara Jean Pope will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jennings “Bean” Pope; daughter, Kimberly Rothman; son, Darrell “Dee” Kaha; her parents, George E. and Barbara Robbins; brothers, George E. Robbins Jr. and William Thomas Robbins; sister Faye Ann Robbins; and her favorite fur companion Lady.
Left to cherish her memory, Barbara is survived by her daughters; Sheryl Cornett (Dennis), Melissa Cain, and Leia Whitt (Greg); Son in Law, Rob Rothman; Brothers, Roger Robbins (Cathy), and John Robbins; sister, Saundra Sue Hadley (Hubert, dec.); 10 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends.
