Barbara Ann (Lafevers) McIntosh, 76, of Salem, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026.

Born on August 25, 1949, in Winchester, Tennessee, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Sam Lafevers and Dorothy Jean (Bryant) Lafevers.

Barbara's life was firmly rooted in her unwavering love for Jesus Christ. A devoted prayer warrior, she faithfully lifted up family, friends, and even strangers in prayer. Her steadfast faith was the foundation of her life and the anchor of her family. She found strength in God's promises and shared that strength generously with everyone blessed to know her.

A gifted writer and storyteller, Barbara delighted in weaving together words and memories. She found immense joy in life's simple pleasures, especially romantic comedies and Christmas movies, always believing in happy endings, the beauty of hope, and the warmth of the holiday season.

More than anything else, Barbara cherished her family. She had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable, filling them with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Her lighthearted spirit shined brightest through her infectious laughter and her unapologetic love for Adam Sandler movies. Countless hours spent gathered together, laughing until tears rolled down their faces, became treasured moments her family will forever hold dear.

Barbara was a mother who was fully present in the lives of her children, creating memories that will be carried in their hearts forever. Her son Daniel will always remember the excitement of trips to the movie theater to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Batman, adventures that became magical childhood memories. Her daughter, Delybra, will forever treasure Sunday mornings spent getting ready for church. Barbara would gently seat her on a stool in front of the bathroom mirror, carefully comb and braid her long hair, place a bow just right, then lovingly turn her around, smile with satisfaction, and say, "All set." Those simple words became a lifelong expression of a mother's love.

Barbara also knew how to step up to the plate—quite literally. Her son Brandon will forever cherish the countless hours she spent teaching him how to play baseball. Whether practicing together or cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines, she encouraged him every step of the way, always believing in him and celebrating every accomplishment.

Barbara's greatest legacy is the love she poured into others. She was a source of comfort, laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support. Her faith, kindness, and joyful spirit touched generations of her family, leaving behind a heritage of love that will continue long after her passing.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, James McIntosh, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Delybra Scrogham (Jay); her sons, Brandon McIntosh (Nora) and Daniel McIntosh (Tonya); her sisters, Stella Denton and Sandra Hirschler (Gunner); her grandchildren, Patrick McIntosh, Ayden McIntosh, Bailey McIntosh, Luke McIntosh, Dillian Scrogham, Seth Scrogham, Rachel Scrogham, Isaiah McIntosh, Ayanna McIntosh, Malakai McIntosh, Caleb Denton, Hannah Denton, and Jordan Denton; her great-grandchildren, Camille McIntosh, Sadie Scrogham, Maci Scrogham, Liam Scrogham, Linden Scrogham, and Layton Scrogham; along with her nephews, Aaron Denton (Carrie) and Travis Denton. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were made brighter by her faith, compassion, and love.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in knowing that Barbara has heard the words she longed for all her life: "Well done, good and faithful servant." Her prayers have become praise, her faith has become sight, and she now rests in the eternal presence of the Savior she loved so deeply.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
