Anthony "Tony" Leonard Bridgers Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Leonard Bridgers, Sr., 51, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Tony was a proud Louisville native whose larger-than-life personality left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.
Tony was known for his generous heart, often giving to others even when it meant going without himself. He lived life on his own terms, plainly spoken, fiercely loyal, and never afraid to tell it like it was. He loved spending time pulling pranks on family and friends, and making people laugh with his quick wit and mischievous spirit.
Throughout his life, Tony dedicated himself to helping others in many different roles. He worked as an EMT, firefighter, teacher, and case manager for foster children, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him. Yet for many in Louisville, he was best recognized behind the wheel of the iconic 357 pink taxi van, where he became a familiar and memorable face throughout the city.
Tony was also an avid collector who took great pride in his collections of coins, guns, and knives. Above all else, he treasured his family, friends, and the countless memories made with them over the years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Bridgers; and his brother, Fred Pitzer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Owsley Bridgers; his children, Taylor Willenborg, Tony Bridgers Jr. (Ebonique Barnes), Christian Matthews, Christopher Slaughter, Nicholas Slaughter, and Tracen Slaughter; his cherished grandchildren, Farrah Willenborg, Shirley Willenborg, and Anthony Bridgers III; and his beloved dog, Ruby Rose.
