Angela Kay Houchen, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Galveston, Texas, to the late Cecil and Betty Bryant, Angela later made Jeffersonville, Indiana, her home, a place where she cultivated deep roots, both in the soil of her garden and in the hearts of all who knew her.
Angela was a woman of quiet strength and gentle warmth. She found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments, sewing with care, planting vibrant flowers and vine ripe tomatoes, and nurturing her family with steadfast love and encouragement. Her hands were rarely idle, always creating, comforting, or giving in some selfless way.
To her family, Angela was everything. A devoted and loving Mom and Nana, she gave of herself unconditionally and delighted in every hug, story, and shared moment. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the lessons she passed on through generations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Clay Bryant and Betty Louise Matthews Bryant; and sister, Linda Rogers.
She is survived by her children, Sarah Younce (Brad) and Johnathon Houchen (Sarah); grandchildren, Caleb Younce (Kara), Camillia Houchen (Guillermo), Jackson Younce, and Alina Houchen; great granddaughter, Kennedy Younce; and brother, Gregg Bryant (Sue).
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville. A celebration of Angela’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m., immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of love offerings of cash and gift cards to support them during this time of remembrance.
