Alfred Schaaf

Funeral services for Alfred Schaaf, 85, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Legacy Funeral Center Scott Chapel, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Utica, Indiana.  Visitation will be held on Sunday prior to the service from 10-2 PM at the funeral home.  He passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd. 

Alfred was born on February 6, 1936 in Koddingen, Germany to the late, Adolf Schaaf and Elizabeth Schaaf Harper.   He worked as a butcher by trade and he successfully owned and operated Schaaf’s Market in Louisville for many years.  After retirement, Alfred and his wife, Romilda, operated a deer processing business.  They enjoyed serving their customers and the years of friendships made along the way. Alfred was a very talented handyman.  He had a love for all engines, fast or powerful.  Alfred could fix about anything and wasn’t afraid to try something new.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends but is now reunited with his loving wife, Romilda whom he cared for before her passing.  

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Mahurin; a brother, Adolf Schaaf; and a son-in-law, Michael Cullins. 

He is survived by three children, Fred Schaaf, Lisa Cullins (Jeff Smith), Karen Bosch (Bill); six grandchildren, Trevor Schaaf, Korey Cullins, Rachael Mahurin (Blane Loggins), Gabrielle Adam (Jake), Mattea Cullins, Naomii Cullins, Tacia Guthrie (Matt); four great grandchildren, Rylee, Reagan, Reese, Wesley; a nephew, Udo Schaaf; and ex-daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gaines-Schaaf.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
