Alana Jean Mattingly, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 26, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1965, in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, to William Allen Montgomery and the late Betty Jean Tindall.
Alana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Lee Mattingly, Jr.; her children, William Scott Hillard and Destiny Sierra Hillard; her cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Shane Hillard, Kalie Marie Hillard, Jacob Alexander Hillard, Kassidi Briann Hillard, and Alexia Marie Hillard; and her great-grandchildren, Kane William Kapp, Delilah Rose Phelps, Bryer Wayne Walter, and Kohen Scott Dwayne Peyton.
She is also survived by her father, William Montgomery; sisters, Treme Montgomery, Ronda Collins, Shannon Walker, Adonna Montgomery, Cynthia Purcell, Jade Montgomery, and Lindsay Southcott, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Connie Lukat.
Alana was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Tindall; her son, Kenneth Dwayne Hillard; her stepfather, Charles Washburn; and her grandparents, Florence Tindall, James Tindall, Goldie Montgomery, Clarence Montgomery and Marvin Montgomery.
Alana had a deep love for her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of true crime and murder mysteries, especially Forensic Files, The First 48, and programs on the I.D. channel. She also loved gardening and the color purple, which reflected her warm and vibrant personality.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 West Market Street, Louisville, KY 40203. Her funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM, with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Alana will be remembered for her loving heart, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
